Seeking volunteers for Community Action Team
The Town of Shallotte seeks volunteers for its Community Action Team (CAT) which will work with consultants to help shape the Town’s Resiliency Strategy*.
*Resilience helps organizations prepare for & respond to challenges, anticipated hazards, changing conditions, & recover from disruptions. *
The CAT will meet to help:
· Determine Community-Specific Vision & Goals towards resiliency
· Work together to determine critical assets & infrastructure to include in the Risk & Vulnerability Assessment
· Determine what levels of risk call for actions
· Work with the contractor & community members to identify, plan, & prioritize a combination of policy, nonstructural, structural, & hybrid actions, including the use of natural & nature-based solutions (NNBS), organized within a project portfolio
· The CAT is a group of stakeholders that will provide targeted input for building the Town’s Resilience Strategy & to help champion the effort. The CAT team should be multi-disciplinary with expertise in the following:
· planning & community development,
· natural resource management,
· climate resilience,
· hazard mitigation,
· utility management,
· engineering,
· the community’s economy,
· engaging with vulnerable & underrepresented populations, &
nature-based solutions.
